We are so excited to bring you another dress workshop, this time we are making the Picnic Dress by Cayden Naughton. This gorgeous flowy dress has been all over our Pinterest and Instagram feeds and we can’t get enough. With the drawstring neckline and puffy sleeves, this dress will become your go-to when you need something cute and comfortable.

This pattern has endless customisation possibilities, from lengthening the sleeves, to lengthening the dress, or even cropping it to be a top. This dress is totally beginner friendly and will teach you many great sewing techniques that you can apply beyond just this class.

This workshop includes:

• 8 hours of instructions in a small group

• All of the fabric, thread and elastic to make the dress

• A printed copy of the pattern to take home with you & a digital copy of the pattern

• Morning tea 

• New sewing friends!

All fabric, supplies, and equipment are provided - just bring yourself!

Skill level:

Beginner. Even if you have never sewn before, I promise you can do it!

Skills we will cover:

• Taking your measurements

• Working with a pattern (picking your size and learning different markings)

• Adding in seam pockets

• Using an overlocker/serger

• Creating an elastic casing and inserting elastic

• Creating a drawstring

• Hemming

• And more!

Fabric options

As this workshop includes fabric, you’ll have to pick a colour! You’ve got four beautiful linens and seven cottons to choose from: Natural, Butter Yellow, White, Light Blue, Honey Stripe, Paprika Check, Raspberry Gingham, Orange Blossom, Ivory Seersucker, Gelato Check, Funky Fruit - shown in order below.

They are all perfect for making the Picnic Dress.

Please note: the Butter Yellow is slightly sheer.

Measurements

To prepare the pattern we will need to know your bust and waist measurement. If you can’t provide those now, don’t worry, we can add later.
